  • Disability Simulation

    There are a couple of websites that simulate some aspects of disability. It is acknowledged that no simulation can give the true feelings of what it is like to have a disability. It is hoped the simulation will provide 'food' for thought and promote discussion and lead to a better understanding of disability.

    Sim-dis provides simulations relating to, Autism, Dyslexia, Hearing, and Visual impairments.

    ARC - (University of Teeside) offers simulations that are designed to demonstrate the effect a persons disability may have on their interaction with the computer.

    The QIA's Excellence Gateway is a web portal providing a single access point to examples of effective practice, networks to support self-improvement and resources, tools and materials to support teaching and learning.

    Ofsted's latest Arts survey report looks at some of the best Arts departments in the country and helps you understand what makes them tick.  Clicking on this hyperlink will bring the case studies to life with extracts from the accompanying film: Excellence in the Arts: Beyond the Comfort Zone.

    The OpenLearn website gives free access to Open University course materials. In the LearningSpace, you'll find hundreds of free study units.

    The BBC website provides access to a wide range of resources including, languages, maths, handling money, the internet and much more.

    Spondoolies at www.spondoolies.org.uk is a new web-based resource for the emerging subject of financial learning. It is based around a tried and tested member forum format and is free to use for all.

    '40 Icebreakers for small groups' is a useful resource that provides details of 40 icebreaker activities. They are described as simple to use and suitable for a wide age range.
